October 8, 1977, Penzance (United Kingdom), 24 6.50m sailboats set sail with only one sailor on board towards Antigua via Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The smallest offshore racing yachts were born and their favorite race: the Mini Transat.

Today, the Classe Mini brings together around 300 members, the vast majority of whom are runners, from all socio-professional backgrounds, from carpenters to engineers, from nurses to stewards, from journalists to professional skippers.

The Mini Class is above all the association of all the enthusiasts of these fabulous little sailboats, wanting to share the furious surfing, the galleys of budget, the days waiting for the wind and all the moments of happiness that the ocean offers us. .

Organized every odd year, the Mini Transat is the flagship event of the Mini6.50 class.

The crossing takes place in two stages, departing from Les Sables d'Olonne with a ten-day stopover in the Canary Islands before crossing the Atlantic to Saint-François in Guadeloupe.

The Puru Transgascogne is the last qualifying race allowing competitors to validate the compulsory race miles to participate in the Mini Transat.
